The Surreal Life

The Poker Geek has a fascinating narrative about his experience at the WPT Invitational at Commerce in L.A. It’s a 4-parter, but the recap of his celebrity encounter in particular is a great read and well worth checking out.

Housekeeping

The three or four regular readers of this blog may have noticed some frequent (and frequently odd) changes to the look of this site in the last week or so. By way of an apology and an explanation, I will say that in a recent life, I made my living as an editor, and it’s [...]

Casino Whoring: One and Done?

Well, if you haven’t hopped on the casino-whoring bandwagon – now might be a good time. Seems there is a storm brewing in the bonus whoring community as more and more folks are discovering the massive positive expected value of casino bonuses. A recent post to the 2+2 Internet forum (aka The Zoo) by bankroll building guru Homer has many long-time casino whores up in arms about what will likely be a chilling effect from an army of new, efficient bonus chasers. A post in the casino forum over at BonusWhores.com underscores the feeling of dread from the folks who have been whoring the casinos with relative ease for a while now.

Party Bot on the Loose!

Little late to the game on this one, but if you haven’t heard about the SitnGo bot named saabpo, you’ll definitely want to read about it.
An all-in or fold bot, it is showing an overall positive expectation at the Party 20+2 SnGs, playing one tourney at a time, 24 hours per day. Makes one wonder [...]

The River Giveth…

Party, $10+1 2-table SnG. Blinds 75/150. Hero has A8o in the BB. One limper, plus the SB completes.
Flop is A34 rainbow. Hero bets 150, limper in LP min-raises to 300. SB folds, Hero calls, thinking A6-AT.
Turn brings a K. Hero pushes his last t600 or so. Villain can’t call his all-in quickly enough and [...]

Like a Ritalin Snorting Nine-Year Old…

What is it about four-tabling Party 1/2 6max that gets me all geeked up? And what in the eff does “geeked up” even mean? I am pretty sure I have a severe case of ADHD and seeing those four-tables in action is kind of soothing, in a way. Being disconnected from the daily craziness of life and just getting locked-in on one thing is really viscerally satisfying. The only problem is that time just kind of melts away and all of a sudden it is 2 in the morning and I have got to get to sleep.

Summing up February

Assuming that I’m not going to get to play any more poker between now and the end of the month (a strong possibility), my quick summary goes like this:

BB/100: 2.10

Opening Standards in 6-Max

I feel like I have learned a ridiculous amount about playing short handed and heads up in the last few weeks. The amount of information that is out there is pretty intense, but I think that with a little work and playing experience, any competent player can achieve a 2BB/100 winrate after a while. 6-max/short-handed games are so completely different from regular ring games that I am not sure that I could make a dime at the latter right now.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!

Yep folks, it’s time for another Party Poker Reload. This bad boy is 20% up to $200, 7x raked hands to clear. I think it starts Friday. Reload code is BONUSFEB.
That makes 5 reloads from the 6 party skins (suck it, eurobet) for a max total of $650 for just 4,950 raked hands. If one [...]
